Closed Captioning on Youtube
Youtube has had captioning for awhile but recently they have started an experimental beta to automate the process.
Here’s my introduction to this service. Very much encourage teachers to check it out and also let their students know about it. Can be helpful and as I note – I’m confident google will get it right sooner rather than later.
Hi DD! Great brief screencast – I hadn’t used it before. A query – do you know if there is a way to download or alter or correct the titles?
Alan,
Unfortunately this is all computer generated and you can’t get the transcript. I do think they might just offer this in the future but I don’t know …. could be issues there. Gets into the age old battle – are the words we speak our own?
I don’t find many teachers putting in their own subtitles or annotations on youtube. Too steep a learning curve I think – this might solve this dilema but it will definitely have to improve.
