I really love those short, sweet, “video like” gif photos and I can attest that students do too!

Show GIFs to illustrate a whole number of things and as an living image, they really can be effectively used by teachers to illustrate and teach a large spectrum of language points ranging from gestures to emotions.

For example, this image.

Students can:

1. Brainstorm possible language expressions that go with the body language.
2. Practice the same language while making the same expression (It’s fun!)
3. Check with the teacher that their language is correctly used.

It’s not easy to teach body language, its usually something teachers avoid. But these images make it so easy! With the powerpoint , teachers can first show the image, have students practice. Then, show the correct example of what language expression could be used. Last, have students practice that expression while doing the same/correct body language. It’s fun!
