The #1 … (website for Geography)
** Not your ordinary, endless list – just what’s number 1.
Today I awoke to the frightful news of the earthquake in Japan. My hopes and prayers go out to everyone there. I can’t imagine. However, this also led me to write about a site I’ve looooooong been in love with – Geography at the Movies. First stop is to get an idea of what they are – their section on “Tectonics”.
I’m an anthropology major and later graduated teacher’s college with a Geography specialization. So I’m convinced geography for our students matters. Irregardless of training or belief, Geography at the Movies is just an outstanding collaborative site!
I’ve written about it before but finally they’ve made their old archive available with most of the best films. Go there first. You’ll find movies about all kinds of “world” issues/themes, made by other practicing teachers. Sterling collections and for the most part, you can even download them for offline use.
Too many/much to mention but get browsing and share some of your finds here please! Especially see the “other” and “population” categories. Here’s my all time favorite. We all Smile in the Same Language. Here’s a teacher made one about Japan.
