Symmetry – a great video vocabulary lesson

Symmetry is an outstanding video to teach basic vocabulary to English language learners. Plus, the important related concept of “symmetry”.  One example of the hundreds of video based lessons with materials available to EFL Classroom 2.0 members. See a list here.

This video has been edited and is excellent!  A split screen example that captivates students.

An excellent way to present vocabulary and word associations – showing how words are linked and should be learned in this “web”.

Students review by matching the vocabulary in the video in a worksheet. First play the unsubtitled version and see what students know. Then let them attempt the worksheet. Play the subtitled version and have the students try the worksheet again. Finally play the subtitled version again to check the worksheet. Download the symmetry worksheet

Use with the vocabulary game sheet “First Word Wars” where in pairs students say a word to their partner and their partner must as quick as possible state an associated word. Lots of fun! The teacher can model first for the whole class.  Download the worksheet

Download of the videos both with and without subtitles available here, to EFL Classroom 2.0 members.
